Thankfully, we played a nobody, someone who we could build on.
Filled with cringe, out of touch dialog and actions (fist bumps every five seconds)-they were hard to watch and I couldn't wait to skip them. Just like the kid, the game has potential, but it makes mistakes here and there that eventually lead it to a terrible place.ĮA heard us when we said the cut-scenes were absolutely disastrous last game. He tries out for sports but makes mistakes here and there and his talent isn't utilized properly.
His dad is successful but out of touch, he feels like he wants to fit in with society but doesn't know how. I describe Need for Speed: Payback to my roommates as a child who is clearly athletic, but is hanging out with the wrong group of kids and starts to dab into alcohol at age 13. This is going to be a long analysis on all the things that absolutely piss me off in this game. It distracts you with short term gimmicks and switchups but in the end- it's all the sane.
NFS PAYBACK RACE DEALERSHIP SERIES
So, with that being said, does this new addition to the series hold up? In short, the game falls into the same pattern as the last. Which is what I think went wrong with NFS 2015. It doesn't however make them quality games. They wanted to expand their audience as much as possible, which isn't a bad thing. Which leads me to the common theme of making this game into a general game- not a car game. I thought they emphasised too much on supers and exotics. Of course someone might say I am just being picky but there was an absence of some basic tuners and platform cars. The map looked the same, everywhere you go. Now for my biggest gripe with the game, the lack of variety. Every car looked stunning, FINALLY I could put banners and decals on windows! I could have tire letters, fender flares and diffusers galore! The biggest let down in this area was when I found out this was only true on (yes a majority) on some cars. The customization was GORGEOUS from the beginning but lacked depth. My most anticipated part of the game was the freedom that came with personalizing the cars. There was very little real, technical car talk. Sorry to all you Averngers lovers but I truly think those films, cinematic-ally, are atrocious. This game was clearly made by out of touch adults who simply google "things teens say" or in this case "things car people say." The dialog was filled with horridly awful car puns and generic lingo. One of the more average one like any of the Thors or Captain America's.
NFS PAYBACK RACE DEALERSHIP MOVIE
The story felt like an avengers movie to me, not a good one. I don't even remember what they did in the game, like at all. EA tried to get around this by using already established, real life characters like Ken Block and Magnus Walker. The story was weak and rubbery, the acting was cringey at best and I don't remember any one of the characters. My issue with NFS 2015 came in the form of typical EA issues. Apparently, EA listened to us and improved on some things, so let's find out. In order for me to critique Payback, I have to compare it to its predecessor. Like NFS 2015, I was drawn in with promises of monstrous amounts of freedom. I wasn't planning on writing this but im bored in my history class and attendance is mandatory, so here it goes.
